I had wanted to photograph this bird for sometime, but was not sure how to ID them, until a few days ago when I got a chance to capture some and post in the Bird Photo forum for a positive ID. Also, there were 2 photos of pine siskins posted in Avian lately. Was able to return to the nature center and photograph several pine siskins. It may sound odd, but I have taken a great deal of pleasure in getting shots of these birds.

The head turn and eye contact really make this shot for me and I like the composition with the diagonal branch. Interesting to see the hint of yellow along the back side. Way to go John.

Very nice image - great pose and head-turn, a nice look at the back which I always enjoy, and fine detail.
Good work!

I enjoy the species as well.

Good pose and view of the field marks (yellow in the wing, sharp pointed bill, notched tail). Some processing issues with a tonal halo around the head of the siskin.
