My dad left to go to church one day (when he could still see to drive) and called me to let me know the baby deer was beside out lane. He actually let me get kinda close to him...I have no idea where the mother was. I took a couple of shots and walked away..

Canon EOS Digital Rebel xs
f/5.6
1/125
ISO 400
no flash
55mm focal length
patern metering mode

*It didn't look like this originaly....I don't know what happened, but the deer wasn't that bright before I posted it. My original looks much better than it does here.

That must have been an adorable sighting Holly. I like the idea of what you are trying to achieve here, but unfortunately the image has a few flaws. Firstly it appears to be not sharp, something which is critical. Secondly it seems to me that the colors are off; Bambi's coat has a cyan cast. If shot in RAW that is an easy fix though. Thanks for sharing.

Holly, I'm sure this was a very cute deer. I agree with Vincent that the image is out of focus. I started out with a Digital Rebel as well so I know this camera is capable of producing decent images. When you are shooting photos of wildlife, it is generally best to only use one focus point and make sure that focus point is on the animal. That way you will be sure to get the animal in focus. You will need to read your camera manual to learn how to do this with your camera. Keep practicing and you'll get it right!
