Some Old, Some New!

Well, the color was pretty good in Yosemite Valley last weekend. The dogwoods were a little weak, Except for this area! I barely beat the sun coming over the ridge above, by just minutes. Anyway, I think this was the richest, and most diverse pallette of color I saw this trip. I love trying to find all the little pine saplings poking up within the frame. One day this scene will look completely different.

Wish I could show you a 30x45, the details are pretty cool! Do look at the larger version at least.

Thanks

Very well seen and processed
This would make a great pano cropping right above lower right leafless tree. :toast:

Not an easy shot to frame for a compelling view, and I think you've done well.

Beautiful scene and composition, I also like the combination of diagonal and vertical lines... And the colors are gorgeous. Seems that the new camera fits rather well with the old eye behind it...

I love these "wall of trees" shots and yours is no exception. Great use of the trunks as strong lines. Antialiasing is a bit tough on the shot here but this one has to be printed big anyway. Great job, Chris.

A really nice mix of different colors. The reds really make it lively.

Excellent scene you picked out here Chris! This is excellent as is, but Rick's pano crop suggestion would work great as well. I'm sure that downsizing this for the file size constraints of this site is wiping out a lot of the fine detail here. I bet the 30x45 looks fabulous!

Beautiful frame filling color. the vertical white trunks help balance this scene. You did a great job with this. The large version is stunning

I hear you guys had a great Yosemite trip. Curious what you all brought home. I like this one a lot, like Andreas mentioned "wall of trees" type of images are also one of my favourites and this works well on that level. Very nicely arranged. To be picky, I think the pine tree in the upper left does not fit that wel as it comes a bit as a distraction for me and puts some extra weight on that side of the comp. I suggest cloning it out...

Superb photo Chris. Why didn't we follow you there I don't know. Will have to try for it next time. Wonderful composition and I love the combination of diagonal flow with vertical lines provided by the trees. Great! Oh, feels a little maybe a bit more sharpening.

A wonderful sensitive and subtle composition for me, Chris. The verticals make for a very nice strucuture and the bare shrub at the bottom adds an interesting and appealing counterpoint. I enjoy exploring all the details and areas of interest.

Gorgeous Chris! I can see why you are drawn to this location. And knowing the limited vantage points on this narrow, windy section of road, you've pulled off another one. Beautiful! No doubt a large print will be stunning. Congrats.

Looks like you hit this just right for fall colors Chris. The dead white tree trunks catch my eye and probably without them the image would not be as successful. Lovely fall image, nice work!

Some gorgeous colors in this one, Chris. I too like the composition with the foliage arrangements that Tony pointed out earlier with the diagonal and vertical items on contrasting display here. Larger version holds some very nice detail and I'm sure your 30x45 print is wonderful to look at too. :toast:

Thanks guys! Just to be honest, I do not yet have a 30x45 print. I am just able to view this at full size on my screen to appreciate asll the little things. I was just saying it would be nice if you guys were able to see that as well. But the print will definately coming.

This one just blows me away. The colors and the nice layering as well as the combination of color and lines in the trunks. This would be astounding as a large print. Glad you are shooting the D800, I just got my D800 in September and the fine details are amazing with the camera. Alas, it is already in the repair shop for a loose remote socket.

Well, just wanted to say again that this is a wonderful image.
