O'Keefean Sandstone

by Tony Kuyper

Gallery: LandscapePosted November 9, 20123,788 views42 comments
This is sandstone in the shadows that's developed in Photoshop to bring out the contrast and colors. This started reminding me of the work of Georgia O'Keefe as it developed. The mirrored version posted in Photo Art even more so.

Your thoughts and suggestions are always appreciated.

@Tony ... a 10-focus-blend. You need a TS-lens, Tony or switch to large format :) ... great colors and curves as in all of your shots.

Tony, it is a real pleasure for me to explore your composition full of tension and dynamics, while always keeping my attention within the frame. The cooler shades together with the comforting warmer tones are very appealing for me.

Another wild journey into line, color and texture. That touch of warmth in the fg makes for an inviting intro to the cooler inner reaches. The mirrored version a whole 'nuther trip!

Tony, the swooping lines and warm/cool color contrast are mesmerizing. The warm/bright area lower left center really grabs my eyes and sweeps them into the distance.

Amazing colors, curves, and textures, Tony. However I will say that I much prefer the mirrored version  That version indeed reminds me the work of O'Keefe.

Gorgeous colors and patterns! The warm cold contrast works very well in this. I especially like the golden orange area up front. It adds a lot.

I like this a lot Tony! Great color, as always, and wonderful texture. I'm especially drawn to the orangish band of color in the lower left cornerand the way it enters the image.

Stunning colors and textures. Of your more recent posts, this one is hands down the best (IMO). The curves add an elegance to this version. As for the mirrored version....WOW! That's a wall-hanger for sure and, as of today, my favorite abstract nature photo.

Classic Kuyper! I think what is so appealing with your work Tony is how you manage to combine composition, form, design, lines, etc. with color, contrast and saturation. It's like one wouldn't work without the other - if that makes sense. To say another way, the color and saturation add to, compliment and/or enhance the lines and design - and vise versa.

Somehow I think that somewhere this image will show up in a tutorial.... ;-)

Beautifully composed and great touches of color especially the gold in the foreground. I also really like how the yellow light separates the layers in the main band coming up from the bottom. Exquisite as usual.
