Jasper National Park 2

Here is another shot from my recent trip to Jasper National Park. I was there for 4 days and this was the only morning with nice light! I did get a nice collection of shots on this morning thankfully.

5d II
17-40
two shots blended: one at iso 100 polarizer turned for sky, the other at iso 800 with polarizer turned for the water. Used iso 800 to get 0.5 sec to show movement in the water.
Also used a one stop hard grad over sky and mountain tops.

Well, there's a coincidence! Looks like you and I were in much the same locations - only a couple of months apart.

Nice shot! No snow or ice when I was there, sadly.

Nice image. The ice waves make a great foreground frame for this scene. Looks like winter is in full swing here.

Julian,
That's funny, I was just down the road from your location!

I love the curves in the ice and how they echo the flow of water. The glow on the mountain is nice, too but I could get by on just the lower half. Beautiful

The only thing wrong with this is you didn't include a larger version.
The 3 most striking things about this image to me are the waves of water and how the ice is mirroring that with it's curves. So, that shows how this is a fine comp. Then the color gradient of the sky is gorgeous, and lastly the clouds clinging to the peak in the background for the depth it adds. The shutter speed choice really translates the fast movement of the water as well. Beautiful image!

I just love your fg here... the water motion nicely complemented by ice in the form of waves... :toast:
oh, not to mention the colours, the sky and the snow cloud (?) on the horizon...

A lovely composition, Wayne. I like the color and tones throughout. I like the
serpentine FG of the ice/snow edge. Your shutter speed for the water looks
appropriate.

This is really pretty! Love the light and colors. The water motion looks great with the 1/2 sec exposure and the foreground shape of the ice works so well. Nice work Wayne! :toast:

Love the light on the mountain and the color of the sky. The speed you selected to show the water works perfect. TFS

This is lovely with the slight touch of warmth in the sky and the matching flow between the water and the ice along the edge. Very well seen.

I really like the light on those peaks. There is a lot to hold my interest here from the foreground to the background peaks and the subtle pink glow in the clouds behind the peaks. This is a beauty!!

I love this...perfect selection of shutter for the water which mimicks the flow of the foreground ice. Great comp with a very artistic feel.

Wayne,

This is simply fantastic - gorgeous is a good word here. The composition is outstanding with the great flow of the water and the design and flow also of the icy edge of the river. Top this off with first light on the snow covered peaks and a touch of pink and blue. Ship it. Nothing to suggest or be critical of. Wish it was hanging on my wall!

Wayne, this is a stunning image for me. The almost abstract character of the lower part complements the majestic mountain scene amazingly to me.

I reallly like how the undulations of the icy bank are matched by the pattern in the waves. The slower shutter speed for the water enhances the soft cool mood.
