Here is another shot which is quite similar to my last post but taken a little while later under different light. I saw a friends processing on his shot which was very similar and he went much brighter, do you guys find this one too dark? For the record, there is detail throughout.... Thanks for looking!

Gorgeous, Wayne. I love all the parks in the Canadian Rockies all along the Icefield Parkway.

I love the combined use of the wide angle hyperfocal distance giving sharpness on the ice crystals in the left foreground and frozen fractal wave along with sharpness in the sunlit peaks mediated by the soft flowing water in between with the extended exposure afforded by your ND filter. And then the dynamic range and sort of texture provided by the layer of pines with their spires mimicing the vertical lines and shadows in the mountain and immeduately in front of that the layer of broken up wood imbedded in the ice.

Great concept, strikingly executed. Great depth and I just realized I forgot to mention the nice leading, diagonal line of the river. And, by the way, the straighter lines of the background layers contrast nicely with the very fractal lines of the ice in the foreground. Oh, and also the blue versus yellow is definitely a plus. Ok...I'll shut up now

Nice work. I do think it's a tad dark. But, nothing that's not fixed in a jiffy.

Nice image. Personally having witnessed similar scenes I like the lighting as is. I think it appropriately highlights the alpenglo and is light enough for the color in the FG ice. Nicely done.

Wayne,

Not too dark at all. A bit more blue compared to your previous post, but still within the realm of normal I think - given glacial water and all. The light on the peaks is particularly striking and beautiful.

Ok, you didn't ask, but I'm gonna compare anyway. I'll give the edge to the previous image and think it's a stronger image. Which, btw, does not in any way suggest this image isn't any good - it's fantastic! Just comparing and saying why I like the other one a little better. Mostly because of the better flow and presence of the water, and the flow of the icy shoreline. In this one, the little hook up front kind of interrupts the flow and there's some smaller areas further in on the ice with little detail (minor point.) I also loved the added pink of the earlier exposure.

both are gorgeous in their own right.

I think I like the lighting on this one a tad bit better than your previous post. I am also liking the details in the ice shelf and the warmth of the sunlit peaks. Beautiful work

Another beauty from this spot, and another wonderful "moment." I like the warm/cool contrast here, the ice in the immediate foreground, and the silky movement of the water. The light on the peaks is the icing here.

i really enjoyed looking at this series of yours! i like how the drama in the water contrasts the otherwise peaceful winter sunrise.

i don't find this to be too dark.
