I couldn't resist this oppurtunity to display the contrast of old to new...this iris was calling to me. Taken against a dusk sky with in camera flash set to -3.
Nikon D200, nikkor 70-300mm@200mm, F5.6@1/25, ISO 100
Thanks!

Hi Justin:
I like the subject you have chosen and the contrast between old and new. The V shape stalk and placement of the flower in the frame looks good and sky provided you with a nice clean bg. Flash photography on flowers are often too harsh and would benefit from some form of diffuser or soft box. It would also be nice if the dying flower is a little more isolated and defined from the main bloom.
BTW Welcome to NPN and flora.

I will echo Gary's critique. I use a Gary Fong puffer on my in camera flash and a translucent box on my external flash. I have to say though, this looks pretty good at -3EV.

Justin: Good eye to see this and I like your overall comp. Even at -3 the flash is a bit too obvious for my tastes but that just happens to be one of my personal peeves. Keep 'em coming.>=))>
