Nikon D600, 150mm, F/20, 1.6sec, ISO 250.

The second of the series taken indoors, I used a black background to emphasize the brilliant floss. Comments appreciated.

I'm looking forward to your series, Albert! I love taking pictures of Milkweed. . .the seed dispersing stage can provide so many interesting possibilities. Nice comp and the black background really highlights all the bursting out fluffy white stuff.

The tiny strands in the milkweed seeds stand out beautifully from the black bg. I like the angled comp as well. Well done, Albert.

I agree with Carolyn Derstine as to anticipation of others in your series; I also like milkweed pics for the resasons she states.

Trying to learn from your work, am I correct in thinking from your aperture data that this is not a stack but a single image?
Secondly, from your exposure data, I would conclude this did not use a strobe, and I am wondering if, in subsequent posts in this series, you could provide some details on the lighting you used. It looks to me like lights on 45° from left and right, a main light on the left. Are they LED lights?

Hi John... I sincerely appreciate your interest in my post. i do not do stacking, all my work is done in one frame. my previous Hosta post had rear LED back lighting... not this one. this post was done in a 8x5 bay window. with a 5 ft center glass . with a small black BG...... this is where i do most of my indoor work.....i have light coming from all angles. and i adjust the transparent blinds to suit my needs, you are right on the button!!! i had natural light from three sides

Albert:
Beautiful still life image. The floss really stand out from the dark bg with every strand nicely shown. Whilst I like the image, I wish the seeds were still attached to the floss and that would take the image to the next level. Looking forward to seeing more of the series.

I too like the angled comp., but I'm especially attracted to the quality of the whites. Well done.

Albert, I like the diagonal comp and the contrast between white and black. Thanks for the explanation about the lighting. Well done!

Wonderful light on this, Albert! And, the silky texture and bright sheen on the floss is just as good. Beautiful image, again! :toast:
