This was the result of a stack of about 10 images taken at Cantigney Park in Wheaton, Illinois, USA, a few months ago during a club shoot.

I thought there was a dead bee in a flower, but upon closer inspection, I found there were several of them, and then I saw them stirring. It was a cold morning, and I then realized that they cooled down there the night before and were just now waking up.

So I decided to take a focus stack using my Tamron 90 mm f/2.8 macro at roughly 1:1, tripod, f/8, 1/20s, ISO 100, Pentax K-5 (comparable to a D7000). And this was the result of a crop of that composite interpretation done using CS5.5 (before I got Zerene).

I'm not that interested in critique on this, I'm just presenting it for your possible enjoyment.

Thanks. I plan to fix some of the issues with it as soon as I get time. But it was kind of a surprise to me, too :)

Also, Guy Nelson, I appreciate your pun on "cool" without which this bee would have been too active to focus stack.

There are issues with the stack that I hope to resolve with Zerene.

Thanks for looking and for your comments. Today I took another look at this 12 image stack using Zerene and its retoutch capabilities as well as some ACR, and a different interpretation of the files emerged. Which I will try t attach to this...

At this point, now that I've done what I can think of with what I had to work with, I would appreciate learning about anything I may have missed.

This crop of the zerene result is more comparable to the photoshop stack crop initially posted for anyone interested in making that comparison.
