Greenie in White

Well, we got our first taste of a couple of inches of snow yesterday. It clung nicely to the trees, etc. but I didn't have a lot of time to take advantage of it.

I did stop at this little pond known simply as "The Greenie" and took a few shots. Luckily I waited long enough to get the blue in the sky and cloud layers to come out a bit. D90, larger posted, thanks for your thoughts!

One "insta-crop" I saw just scrolling down after posting original.

Love the bits of snow clinging to the fg willows. For me, they set the tone for this image so I'm not in favor of a crop (unless its from the left to remove the branches there) I really enjoy the mood of this one. I'm glad you waited for the blue in the sky, also.

While this scene may lack drama it captures the quiet mood of a clearing winter storm quite nicely. It might be worth trying to increase contrast / saturation a touch in the sky to create more separation between the clouds and the blue sky. I like the cloud "fingers" in the upper right hand side of the frame.

Bill,

Nice to see an image from you. What a lovely winter scene. I especially like the softness of the sky/clouds, it compliments the scene wonderfully. Interesting, in the small version the patch of growth in the foreground kind of blocks my view, but in the larger version it's not really an issue. So viewing large sure makes a difference.

The only wish, is wishing the tree intruding on the left wasn't there, but not a big deal really.

A wonderful winter scene Bill. I really like it when the snow hangs on to the trees like this. I like this best in your original post with the foreground branches in the comp. Looks like the pond is freezing over too. I too would like it without the branches on the left coming in to the frame, but as Lon mentioned not really a big deal. Nice work Bill.

Thanks folks, haven't been shooting much this year. :frown: :frown: Been very busy with photo things, just a lot of personal and family health stuff--and I guess a bit of "writer's block" have made it a down year for me as far as new images.

Anyway, yes the tree on left is a no-brainer. Duh!! Thanks for pointing it out and take care!
