Feral Cat

A problem anywhere, country or city. Not the cat's fault particularly, but the lowlifes who dump them! The cat does what the cat does, catching and eating birds, rodents, etc.

The cat appears to be well fed. I found a sort of shelter and an empty plastic tub where a number of cats were being fed. I counted eight cats escaping in various directions into the woods. As usual, I don't really know what to do, or whether I should do anything. I assume animal control, if they catch the cats, would dispose of them. For better or worse, I just can't be a party to that. Any suggestions?

Wow, you're finding all sorts of things that need help! (Hurt pelicans, cats..)
Try calling some of your local shelters - they may be able to refer you to your local "trap, neuter, release" or "trap, neuter, socialize, adopt" places. Places like PerSmart or PetCo also have lists of resources.
Ours here is called CCC or Community Concern for Cats.
At least in Georgia, your weather is not too severe.
Again, thanks for caring!

My sister, Barb, has organized and run an organization in Northwest Ohio called SPA - Society for Protection of Animals, and it is dedicated to the catch, neuter, and release ethic. I'm sure you could google it and contact her for advice if you wish to do that. I'm not promoting her organization, I'm just advising you that it exists.

Your image is quite poignant.

Fabulous idea for an EP shot. They are indeed a problem. We have many by us. Love this individual's amazingly long whiskers!

Nice portrait of a pretty cat. Looks sort of like a Maine Coon Cat. Just lost our 2ed one to old age. IMHO neuter and release is no answer to the feral cat problem.
