Desert Broom

Place: Gilbert Water Ranch, AZ, USA
Date: November 29, 2012 8:46 am
Equipment: Nikon D300, Nikkor AF-S 300/2.8 plus TC20E III (2x), Gitzo 1325, RRS BH-55, sidekick
Exposure: ISO 400, Aperture priority matrix meter, 1/200th @ f/8, -+1 ev compensation
Raw, PS CS3 on Mac, 82% of frame

The Desert Broom is splendid at the moment at the Gilbert Water Ranch wghere I do most of my bird photography – hence the optics used for this shot. Walking down a path with 10 foot high shrubs on each side topped with white “fluff” was a unique experience.

As always: honest critiques requested; all comments appreciated.

Not the usual Richard Ditch photo! This is plain out good photography. You should do more of this from time to time, not that your photos aren't all uniformly excellent; they are. :toast:

Sure is lots of fluff. I like your high key approach showing off the fluff as well as the seed heads.

Wow, this is total immersion in "fluff". . .great frame-filling shot of all the fluffy stuff! The seed heads showing through the haze of fluff provide a nice anchor to this image. Great lighting and nice subtle color shadings. Fine capture, Richard.

I think "topped with white “fluff” " says a lot about this. The image has an overall light & airy look that is very pleasing.
I especially like the contrasting desert broom seed heads & green stems in your sea of 'fluff'.
Congrats Rich, very nice :wavey:
