From my last trek through the Narrows with my large rig. I think BW film is best to capture this wide dynamic range of tones. Chamonix 4x5, Delta 100 film, wet-mounted scan on a V750. See large.

Another neat idea,(comment on Harley's post) executed very well. Not your typical narrows kind of shot.

Hey Jeffrey,

Great tonal range and contrast here. I think the b&w is surprisingly effect here; I still get that optical perception of which wall is which where the two walls converge. The big boulder creates some interest and the reflection is a nice bonus. The only suggestion or wish I have, would be for some detail in the shadows. The wall is so big on the left and occupies nearly half the real estate - if there's any detail to be extracted in the neg, you might try and bring it out some. Then again, the contrast on the left and deep shadows have created some very interesting "faces" in the wall.

All in all, this works very well. thanks for posting Jeffrey!

Really pretty, beautiful tones, and I really like the reflection of the large fg bolder. Beautifully seen and presented Jeffery.

I am really liking the composition, especially the reflection.

Although I am rarely one to ask for more detail in the shadow, in this one, I am surprised there is not more detail there. Was that a PS processing decision or did the negative not have the info? I would expect a B&W neg to easily have that range.

Thanks, everyone. As we know, subtle shadow detail is important, and yes, there is more there. The print version has it, and I need to emphasize it a bit more so it will survive the jpeg/web presentation. Comments appreciated.

I like it a lot Jeffery. I am curious what it looks like in color.
