Bird's Nest + Repost

The Red seaweed and zebra rock on the shore of St. Ann's Bay, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia reminded me of a bird's nest. Something a little different than my usual seascapes from Cape Breton. Taken on a rainy, dreary day.

Polarizer
Velvia 50
Epson V750 scan

Thanks for having a look.

Very cool!!! Great composition, detail and colors. Very minor suggestion, but I might burn down the rock in the lower right a bit. I like this a lot!

Those rainy days tend to be the best for images like this...really saturates (naturally) colors. I really like this one. The composition works perfectly and the bold orange colors of the seaweed contrasts beautifully with the muted background colors. Bravo!

Oh, I love this Eva! The color and detail of the seaweed is great, as is the placement of the Zebra rock. I do wish the large speckled rock in the ULC wasn't quite so dominant though.

Here is a version where I burned down the small rock in the lrhc and larger rock up top. Thanks everyone for your input.

Great find Eva! Amazing color and detail here. Your repost took care of my nits, so great job with that. Polarizer was a good choice too in cutting down what I suspect was a lot of glare on the wet leaves. Just wonderful color in the seaweed, very cool.

That is, just as Harley said, a very cool image. Love the vibrant color of the seaweed against the neutrals. :toast:

I love the fiery nature of the seaweed. The zebra stone is most likely some variation of granite, an igneous rock born out of fire so it is very apt to see this "egg" sitting in its nest of "fire". Very neat indeed.

This is Cool! Very nice Eva. I love the wet look and how it adds to the color, and it does make me think of a nest. Repost even better! :toast:

This one had me fooled. From the thumb, I thought it was going to be red autumn leaves under water! I gues when the tide comes up they will be, sort of! I like the color a lot. The contrasting shape and color of the "egg" is nice too.

I pity the bird that tries to hatch this egg. The repost does a better job of keeping the focus on the seaweed nest. Great seeing.

Beautiful and intimate, the seaweed seems to be swirling around that rock, love it Eva!

Great combination of textures here for me, Eva. I really enjoy the rich tonal range and the tangible details especially in the larger version.

This is really nice, Eva--great intimate shot!
I would have liked it even more if you had somehow managed to frame it so only the red leaves and round rock filled the frame--that would have been amazing. Maybe you could have borrowed some of Chris C's technique (see above) to fill in some of that ulhc...

I like this Eva. Great colour's extracted by the film and masses of wonderful detail. I bet this was a nice easy scan with very little post processing needed. Have you checked on Lofoten flights, the last stage of the journey is beginning to fill.
