Well, he seemed pretty regal to me. Out early at the nature preserve on a damp, drizzly day with really low light. Happened upon this buck after leaving another pair and noted him coming across the openning. I tried to figure out where he would end up and how to position myself. Well, I was wrong and he decided to come much closer to me than I expected and I was really pleased when he stopped at this rise and proceeded to check me out for what seemed like 5 minutes giving me time to fire off a number of shots. I liked this one best for the positioning of the antlers. I decided to make it into a vertical as I didn't think the extra habitat showed anything different from what we see here. What do you think? I had to really crank up the ISO as the light was terrible so the BG looks pretty bad and plus this is only about 50% crop. Comments and critiques welcomed and greatly appreciated.

No problem with the crop or the image itself, except for the obvious noise in the BG.

Nice one Peter! Like the pose and the colors of this image. IMHO the noise adds to the drizzle look. Thanks for sharing.

Majestic and regal indeed.
Light, position, composition, etc. No problem!
I'd have probably cropped a little more off the bottom, but either way, it's suitable for framing....Izzy

Nice looking black-tail buck Peter. Great alert pose in typical rainy winter weather which adds character to both you and the image.

Sweet Photo!

I would warm and brighten the buck just a touch...This is a fine capture, given the wonderful head-on pose, looking off camera. I think the digital noise is no big deal at these sizes, and if you print large it would be an easy tweak to apply some noise reduction to just the background.

Love this one, Peter! The comp is perfect. Despite all the noise in the background, it seems to still be sharp. Maybe a slight noise reduction would help? Aside from that you have a winner! Honestly my favourite deer image of yours!
