This is a picture of the infamous Hawksbill Crag in the Boston Mountains in West Arkansas. One of my favorite places to hike and take in the immense beauty.

The crisp sharpness of the rock formation in contrast to the softer surround, and its central location in the frame, are nice. When I looked at the furthest right extention of the rock out-cropping, I immediately saw the head of a bear. could be a brown bear or a grizzly. Only an expert can tell the difference, in many cases requiring the teeth which are not in evidence here.

Cool formation, well captured. The fog adds a nice contrast to the wonderfuly textured rock.

Justin,
Been a while since I've seen an image of this place. Very nice capture, although it's kinda begging for a pair of hikers standing out there with red and yellow jackets on....
To be honest, I'm a little unsure about the "foggy" appearance of the trees on the lower left corner. Clearly it's a misty, foggy, perhaps even rainy day, but I almost want to have some contrast there. Surely the conditions could have been just as they are, but I then want the rock to be obscured with mist too. anyway, not sure if I'm describing this well. Maybe I'll think about it and revisit again.
I don't know if you live near here or just visiting, but do you know Tim Ernst? He's pro from Arkansas that I knew back in the 90's from old AOL days. I think he may have been a member here at one time. Anyway, it doesn't matter, but the image reminds me of him.
thanks for sharing!

A thoughtfully composed view. I like the mist and the sense of both distance and elevation. This image has suffered some from compression, but also appears a bit over sharpened.

Neat structure. This looks like a great place to visit when fall color is booming as well. As Lon noted, the left side looks a little fuzzy compared to the rest?

Interesting scene with great atmospheric perspective. Did you consider a comp that didn't center the rock? Might add some drama to a beautiful, peaceful scene.

Perfect conditions for capturing this, Justin. Could maybe see burning down the foreground foliage on the left to better frame the rock.
