The drought and wildfires that went thru Texas took as many as half billion trees. This forest north of Huntsville was caused by campers in Sam Houston State Park. A year and half later the growth begins slowly but surely.

Fire ...is good, at times. And the fire-orange shrubs are perfect. I like the detail and contrast of reds / green against the monocolor. Big viewing is best. Softness of a couple items is a minor...nit.

ditto to what Ken Smith said except that I preferred the thicker black frame in the smaller version.

Looks like upland hardwood. I doubt, unless it is pushed up and planted, it will ever have much in it besides low browse and brush. It will keep the dirt from blowing away, and that is about it. Photographically, this shows a nice distinction between the dead overstory and the new young growth.

There is a softness in the foreground that is distracting to me, especially in the larger version. I do like the contrast between the reds and greys. I am always sad to see forest burnt because of a careless person. But fire is needed in many places. We like to measure growth in comparison to our own lifetime, but a forest needs generations to recover and is in no hurry.
