Findhorn Beach, Moray, Scotland. I must have spent over twelve hours wandering this wonderful beach..... I particularly liked this very large mound of rocks at low tide. Guess I am obsessed with rocks and beaches where ever they may be.

Pentax 67II
Pentax 67 55-100mm
Velvia 50

Thanks for having a look.

at first glance at the thumbnail, i was sure i was looking at an image of ian's. in my book, obsessions with rocks and beaches, especially when they look like this, is not only healthy but reflects something good. here's a though on the image - it may be the vignetting (however subtle) or lens distortion, but the pile of rock appear to bulge, as it were, towards one. I wonder if altering lens distortion may correct for that feeling and whether that may have a more pleasing effect. i don't know, but it may be worth a try?

Nice abstract of the rocks. I like the shapes colors and textures. I appreciate anyone that can see and produce an image from an area like this. When I am in a place I just see confusion. Well seen and photographed.

Amazing how you have created really wonderful interest in what most people just walk over. The form in each little rock and the muted but strong color is quite nice indeed.

Wow, this looks perfect Eva. I like the little seashell in the upper left.
The large version has a tad less saturation and contrast I think - the small version is just right.

I like this both for what it presents in the moment it was captured in terms of shapes and colors, but also for what we can infer from it regarding the sequences of cause-and-effect that led to this result; what smoothed off all the rough edges and over what span of time.

Eva,

Gotta love these. What great little stones, and as Dietrich pointed out, I noticed the shell as well, very cool.

Of course subjective and personal choice, but guess what, I see a crop. Nothing wrong as presented, but if it were mine I might consider slightly tightening this up. specifically, come in from the right to eliminate the brown rock in the LL and also proportionally from the top to cut in to the size of the elongated rock up top. Nothing wrong with either, but they both attract attention. No biggie really.

I love these intimate rock scenes!

I thought they looked Findhornish in their appearance. Quite different from my version. Mine were higher up in the dunes and therefore dusted and heavily impregnated with sand. The stones though are beautiful. I do see a slight vignette to the frame and I am wondering if this is apparent in the original tranny or whether it is a fall off of light in the corners that occurred during the scan. Either way it is easy to correct.

Thanks everyone for your comments. This repost incorporates lightening the vignetting as suggested by Stuart and Ian as well as correction for lens distortion.

Ian - The transparency has the same appearance as my original post where the center looks like it is bulging and the corners are dark. Not sure why.

Anyway, thanks all for your comments and input.

I came back for another look and noticed the repost. I prefer the original. Not even close for me.

Eva,

I like the small, but noticeable crop - it definitely works better for me. For some reason though, the repost looks every so slightly brighter with less contrast. I like the contrast/color/exposure in the original, but like this crop.

still lovely on revisit. i like the removal of the bulge but prefer the colour & contrast of the orginal. hard to please, eh? the bulge is because i guess that this was at the 55mm end of your lens and is a artifact of the wideness.
