This is another image from my awesome evening at mono lake earlier this year. I went the other way with this one and opted for some cooler tones, as we often see that dramatic orange light at sunset. This is sorta post sunset, after all of my other images, but still plenty of color in the sky. Comments and critiques appreciated.

This is an amazing place! Almost looks like another world... Such an interesting view and then you have a beautiful sky and reflection which adds to these impressive shapes. I love the mood!! Wish I could have been there beside you Peter!...

Thanks Nick. There were actually a lot of people set up shooting, but nobody near me which was really nice. Maybe next time! :)

Don't believe I've seen a nicer image of Mono Lake. The composition pulls you in, and the color palette is marvelous. Excellent crafting.

Another great image from Mono. I like the more pastel colors and the composition.

Hey Peter: Got to love Mono Lake!! I love the color combination in this image. The pinks and blues work well together, and create a visually dramatic presentation. I also love the composition. The FG tufa serves very nicely to lead my eye into the image. Well done friend!

Peter,

Wonderful color. It's a special time at the lake when you get these colors - and it all seems to be absorbed in the tufa.

I've always found it difficult to incorporate the taller tufa in a good comp, but I think you've done that well here. The tall tufa on the left - I can't help but think of "ET phone home...."

Is there a hint of a TK glow or Orton effect going on here? Just curious - and it doesn't matter, a lovely image from Mono Lake.

Thanks everyone! Lon, I did add an Orton glow here as the light was softer at this point, but there were still deep contrasty shadows in the formations. Using a low opacity Orton layer helped keep that soft light feeling.
