Hi Raied,

I like the emphasis on the structured clouds here, definitely a different take from this popular location. I would have liked to have seen a shift a bit more to the left, eliminating the Watchman from being planted in the center of the frame and revealing more of the mountainside on the left. With this ultra wide lens you could have easily utilized a more wide open aperture, say f/5.6 or f/8 to produce great depth of field and in the meantime decreasing the ISO for a cleaner file. I highly recommend looking at Mark Metternich's work using the Canon 14mm II lens and his in depth write ups on each image.

Cheers,

Peyton

That is quite a fine sky. I am finding the image size rather small, but from what I can see, I like the comp.Good choice on B&W, it works well.

I like the drama in the sky. Good conversion but really needs to be posted larger to be properly viewed for feedback and appreciation.

Raied,

I think you made a great choice going with the b&w here and I like the composition which is of course showcasing the dramatic sky.

IMHO though, I thinkt he contrast and drama in the sky doesn't quite match the landscape; I'd almost be tempted to drop the higher values a tad - not too much that you lose contrast, but maybe some to tone down the drama. Not sure if I'm making sense though.

Oh, and a larger view and even a larger original when posting will help. That might also have changed how the image impacted my opinion.

I tried to post a bigger file but for some reason it did not show up. Any advice?

Raied,

For the original image, you can post up to 720px in the long dimension and can be up to 300kb in size. If you are linking your image to another server/website, it doesn't matter what the file size is. The second, "larger view" image can be 1200px on the long side and up to 500kb in size. that one has to be uploaded and not linked.

You can always post a reply in your own image thread with a 720px version if you so choose.

Hope this helps.

Very unique take on this view. Just wish it were larger.
