Sony A77
Minolta 200mm macro, CPL
ISO 400, 1/200 @ f11
Mercer Arboretum, Humble , Texas

This pretty pair immediately caught my eye when I first arrived at the arboretum. I tried to get a camera angle that would minimize the BG stems but they just found their way into every comp. So it goes. All comments welcome.>=))>

The different stages of bloom, the variance of color tones and the natural environment make this image believable. I never get tired of viewing water gardens and the water flowers are the stars. Nice job. :toast:

Beautiful color and clarity in this Bill. I actually think the bg stems work as an echo of the main plant stem and the diagonals add energy to the composition. It's a very strong image and the dof decision is perfect for my tastes.

The gorgeous flowers draw the eye so well the offending stems are not an issue at all, IMO
Nice POV and the fully open/partially closed positions are excellent.

A lovely pair. Wonderful side lighting bringing up the details in the petals in the right bloom. The bg is sufficiently OOF and not intrusive. Beautiful image.

Bill, I can see growing the taller African waterlily. A splendid BG wasted by the stems; are you sure that nothing can be done?
I love the photo also as it is.
Cheers.
