Another look at the Northern Hawk Owl in the snowstorm last week. This was taken just before it dove into the feeder trying to catch some lunch. He wasn't successfully.

Nikon D800, 1/400, f4.5 ISO 640, 300 mm lens, HH

Thanks for all the nice comments on my previous shot.

Again, thanks for looking and critiques appreciated.

Another excellent look at this beauty and that wonderful BG .Love those furry feet!
A bit of work on that great eye would bring it out a little more.
Sweet!

Very nice in all respects. I like the intent look in his eyes. Good detail( best appreciated in the large view), I especially like the eyes and feet. The snow is a nice touch to help set the scene.

I very much like the falling snow and the snowflakes sticking to his face they add alot to an already great shot. Very nice detail and sharpness, a good pose and perch and great looking bird. I agree with Sandy's comment about working on the eye just a little. Guess I'll have to go to Canada to see/photo one of these beauties.

The composition and snow make this image for me, May. The intensity on the owl's face is riveting. Too bad, he wasn't successful! Wonderful image and thanks for sharing this! :toast:

Now that's a snowy owl. Super as posted. I would not do anything to the eye. The BG really works with this bird.

I like this one better because you can see more of the body and feather patterns but both are really nice shots. I also like seeing the furry feet. Another excellent shot May.
