As sunset approached on Dallas Divide this fall the elements began to calm. I found myself calming along with them.

C&C always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Perfect in every way Morris - I really like this one. The light subject, timing, and processing all came together nicely.

Beautiful scene, Morris. The scattering of yellow aspens pulls the eye right through the image. Nice work here!

Morris,

Yet another beautiful autumn image from Colorado. I really like the flow from bottom to top, with something to enjoy along the entire way. The only minor suggestion I have would be a reduction in cyan - most in the bottom evergreens. Not a big deal. I could see bringing up the luminosity, but we're starting to split hairs at this point. A wonderful autumn landscape.

Beautiful! One of my favorite places/views in Colorado. At least that I have seen. Been there once, would love to get back again one day.

A very familiar look to me after visiting here a couple years in a row awhile back. This area has sure provided some wonderful photo ops over the years, and this capture is a excellent example, Morris. Sure sorry I had to miss out on this last autumn, looking forward to next year however. Super capture and well processed as well.

One word--CROP!! This is screaming thirds to me--2/3 forest, 1/3 mts. Do that and it will give more (justifiable) attention to the nice dramatic sky, and put more emphasis on the nice strip of yellow aspen. The bottom portion is completely superfluous here IMO.
EDIT: incidentally, if you are crazy enough to entertain that suggestion, I have an additional one, because the one disadvantage of the 2/3 crop is it places the top of the bottom tree sticking up in the center bottom edge. That problem can be eliminated by the dirty trick of changing that tree's color to green.

I suspect those junipers that look a little cyan as Lon pointed out are naturally close to that color. It wouldn't hurt to reduce the cyan a little, but it certainly looks fine as is. This is a fantastic image that deserves to be printed large and hung! Stellar capture Morris! :toast:

This looks familiar, Morris.

Very well composed with wonderful color. The conditions that night were sweet and the fresh dusting of snow came at just the right time. I really like how the clouds reveal a false peak on the left side of the frame that reminds me of the photos that I have seen from Lone Eagle Peak.

Thanks for inviting me to meet up that night - I enjoyed the visit.

The large version rocks! My favorite part thing is that you have a strong yet not overpowering FG element, the cool yellow trees in the midground, and finally you end up on beautifully lit mountains. It just works all around for me...

A very appealing composition for me, Morris, leading me through the whole image. The brighter trees in the foreground first draw my attention, then I follow the scattered ones in the midground and distance, finally I enjoy the subtle light on the mountains at the top.

Hi Morris, I'm gonna be tough on ya like Stan! We Colorado cronies are not afraid to let you have it!!!!! You can’t just keep submitting images of well composed, well processed images without a few of your buddies going into full blown Nit Pick mode! Sure, this is a nice image of a well photographed place. For that, you have succeeded. So wheres the horizontal composition of this spot? Regardless of Iconic vs non Iconic, the horizontal version with peak color always blows me away. Looks like enough color to go horizontal. Please explain… :jump:
