Lagoon Life

Underwater paradise. Late afternoon in Cadlao Lagoon, Palawan Island, Philippines.

This area has some of the most spectacular scenery in all of Asia. It's still relatively undiscovered, and a photographers dreamscape. A super typhoon cut my trip short, but I would love to go back and photograph this area a little more. Island hopping in a small boat with local fishermen is an amazing travel experience.

Thanks for looking!

Amazing shot, Michael. Thanks for posting here again. Is that a short peak or rock face illuminated in the distance?

Navin, it's a small limestone island that sits in front of a wall of jungle cliffs. The fall-like colors of the jungle trees was really unusual and helped balance the colors in the image.

Hi Mike: First, let me tell you that eve since I saw your image titled "Explosion in Blue" from Tongetapu Island, I have been a fan of your work. Having been a landscape photographer for about 5 years now, I find 'Explosion in Blue' to speak to me more than any other photographer I have ever seen. I am always excited to see posts from you on NPN, as you are a true inspiration. Perhaps we can talk outside of NPN, as I would very much like to purchase this image from you.

Lagoon Life is as equally compelling, and your appreciation of the visually dramatic, and embracement of the vivid colors that nature has to offer truely resonates with my style of photography. Not sure if you offer workshops, but if so, please consider me an interested participant. :toast:

Beautiful work, Mike! Amazing exposure control here. Is this a single shot? Love the spotlit cliff face. Your experience sounds wonderful.
