Terrific image, Sandy. Beyond being a documentary photo of the kingfisher in winter, it can be seen as an intellectual statement as well. Everyone an read something into it. Who knows who iss right or wrong. But who cares? Great photo.

A great winter scene with a kingfisher as the anchor. I like the snow covered branches. The large version is a pleasure to view. Looks like it held up well for such a seemingly enormous crop.
Happy Holidays!

Great winter photo! Nice color and sharpness in the kingfisher. Seen a few but never had much chance to photograph one. Good to see such a nice image. TFS

What a neat setting this is for your capture of the kingfisher. Really nice work and great quality considering the crop size.

What a pretty scene! I like the feeling of the snow falling on the back of Kingfisher, but I am thankful I am in a warmer climate!

love the comp and feel of the shot, though it does show the crop.

Very nice. For me the snow makes the shot. I like that you can see the falling snowflakes.

What a great composition! I love the "bi-chromaticism" of the shot. Thanks for sharing and congrats

Sandy,
You have great ability to capture shy subjects with clear shots. Where did you get this one?

Love the winter scene. It would be even better if the bird was facing you a bit more IMHO. But it is a lovely capture as it is.

Tjie, I think he/she is frozen in place, although I did get a head-turn and some eye contact, if you look closely. I rather like this position - you can see the snow on the back of the bird.
