This image was made on Spruce Knob, the highest point in WV, on a misty, rainy day in early October.

I like the repetition in the flowers. Sky is maybe a bit bright.

Chet,
Agree with Tony - the field of grass is wonderful, but I think the sky takes away a little bit. Clearly you included it to capture the "misty, rainy" day conditions and it does do that. At the same time you composed this and gave most the emphasis to the grass and repeating patterns of the other little whitish plants. Looks like some great opportunities there - me like the grasses!

Thanks for your suggestions. I am reposting an image cropped from the top. What do you think?

Thanks for posting the crop Chet. I think a crop could work, but if it were mine, perhaps not so much of a crop. I think just enough to exclude the sky, which I think means there's a little more room above from your crop. As it's cropped now, the tree trunks put things in a state where, you either need to see more trees, or none at all, if that makes sense. I also see a crop where you also come in from the left - enough to allow you to include more vertical space; in other words coming in from the left you then have less sky to exclude. Hard to describe.
Thanks for taking the time. I'm going to edit your title to indicate you've posted a reworked version. Something to remember for future posts. It lets viewers know you've posted an edited version.

I think the re-post is an improvement. Those white flowers (seedheads?) are wonderfully engaging and don't need much in the way of 'supporting' cast to make an interesting image.

I really like the feel to this image. I agree about the bright sky but prefer the original post to the cropped post. if it were mine I think I would try to tone down the sky and not crop it. Very nice .

Excellent image, Chet. I prefer the image as posted to the cropped version. I don't care for the cut off trees in the repost. I agre with others that the foreground is terrific, and the sky a bit distracting, but an excellent capture of this place overall.

The white stalks (maybe a white golden rod) scattered through the grass are great. I agree with the others about the sky and think that cropping from the top to leave only a couple of sky areas showing on the left really focus attention on the field and avoids the distraction of the white sky. In my opinion, the repost crops too much. Nice seeing on the foreground.

I like the crop better. A pretty little meadow.
