Citrus in Vase & Repost

I don't know what these are exactly...but they taste like kumquats. A friend offered me to pick some branches from her tree to photograph. I ate them afterwards. :)

I had no idea how hard it is to photograph just a few stems of something in a vase! I arranged, re-arranged and arranged them again.

Stack of 7, zerene

Comments, criticisms, suggestions welcome.

This one seems a bit too dark, especially in the thumbnail. I find the larger version acceptable in terms of brightness. The bottle looks really neat with the dark background.

Eirini - I like the light here even though its subdued. Love the lighting on the Vase too which is just about enough to highlight its presence.

While this genre is alien to me, I think a 5:4 or square comp may suit this better and I see a slight left to right slant to the Vase - may be just an light induced illusion.

Thanks Ram! You are right, the vase was tilted to the right! I tried a closer crop here....not sure what I think of it though.

I like the cropped version Eirini. In particular I like the arrangement and the lighting. I think you might still crop some from the left and make this more of a portrait. The stack looks good to me also.

Looks good to me, Eirini. I prefer the cropped version. I agree with Pat that cropping some more to center the subject would also work. I like the lighting, the clear vase, and the dark bg. They combine for a nice soft still life image.

Eirini: This is Sampsonesque IMO, especially the cropped version. Beautifully done. >=))>

Very fine processing in your dark images you have been posting lately. I really like the richly soft look of these images. To me, the cropped version feels much better without all the extra blank space. Can see the branches better too.
