Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone. I'm posting this one right before Christmas because the colors seem rather holiday-ish to me; greens, reds, you know...

Yosemite Moments #20. Yet another grass image captured on my last day in Yosemite back in early November. Here I was attracted to the diversity of colors and all the different kinds of grasses and little plants. No central subject to focus on, so I'll be curious to see how this one plays out.

As always, your thoughts and comments appreciated very much.

Chamonix 4x5, Nikkor 210mm, V100f, f/45 @ 3s.

Thanks!

Lon

For all those who celebrate it, Merry Christmas!

Christmas Colors???? I think that is a little bit of a stretch here Lon, but the sentiment was nice. I don't know how to follow up a grass image like the one that appeared to have frost all over the top. The variety of colors and textures in this photo is nice however. Have a great day tomorrow and wonderful new year. I wish I was in the Valley right now. 15 inches of snow was predicted to fall over the area there last night alone!

Love the colors and the slight variation for comp at the top..kind of minimalist compared to your other photos in this series, but still very nicely captured

Lon, I love the detail and textures you have been able to get from these grasses. I think this is another beautiful image and I just really enjoy the feel of them. I see and feel the holiday-ish colors... Very nice!

The colors are delicious. Makes a very beautiful abstract. I still favor the frosted grass but this is quite nice.

This is gorgeous, Lon. What wonderful details and colors. You gotta love it don't you. All the grandeur of Yosemite, and you end up photographing the grass. Good thing. Po' grass don't get no 'spect 'til you come 'long. Wonderful way to see the place with new eyes.

Nobody else would have seen this scene as a photograph but I'm sure glad you did, Lon. It's lovely. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

The grasses have a warm and welcoming mood, and I can relate to that, to me this is what photography is about, not only the beauty of the scene, but also the feeling our mood the viewer takes away with them. This works beautifully Lon, in all aspects. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Ho Ho......or Wow Wow........

For me this one is pretty much all about the variety of colors, and in this case the perfect full DOF. So, a complete contrast to your previous post with short DOF, a lack of much varying color, and the inclusion of an isolated subject. Once again the experimentation in photographic ideas and challenges are attempted and successful on their individual merits.

Forgot to say I really like this one also...... ,,,,,Merry Christmas and a Happy "upcoming' New Year to all at NPN. :toast:

A very fine grass image Lon, again offering a lot of interesting stuff in terms of details, colors and patterns. Similar in concept as the other grass image with the apparant "frost". They would work well back to back I guess - in a gallery. Let's hope the other one would not overshadow this one, because I think the other is a tad stronger. If forced to decide, I would go for the other one. But as you said, comparisons like this are not always fair and possible and this one has its own merit - and a lot of it.

Lon, I appreciate the subtle colors and delicate textures in your image a lot. The diverse layers lead me through the image in an appealing way, always keeping me within the frame.

Merry Christmas to you!

Soothing mood but not dead. I like the soft color palette and the layered bands. I like the image very much and I don't think I'd get tired of it on my wall. It draws me in but doesn't demand attention and I like that.

I certainly respect your ability to stay so focused on detail in a such a gorgeous place. Hoping to finally get there this spring. Not my favorite of the series but I love the colors. Have a great holiday!

Wonderful colors and textures. I could see maybe losing the darker bunch at the top, but still excellent as is.
