Thanks for the feedback on these photos from Yosemite. I try to make something unique there each time I visit, but it is hard. No matter your feedback is appreciated.
After making the Alder photo, Lon and I walked down to the river bank itself and poked around a bit. I noticed this reflection of the trees and other plans on the opposite bank. The ripples in the water made for some interesting abstract patterns. I have been on a flowing water reflection abstract kick ever since 2007 when I made
Rippled Reflection in the Santa Cruz mountains. Since that time I have been trying to find companion pieces for it.
So this is my next attempt. I don't think it is as riveting as Rippled Reflection, but as I cloned out dust spots at 100% I was really moved by the intricate, delicate and mysterious reflected patterns in the water. It really needs to be seen big to appreciate the details in this.
I did not intend a pano crop but the full frame included some hot spots that I felt detracted from the details.
4x5, Nikkor 300mm, f11, 1/8 sec, Fuji Provia 100F. The lens was nearly wide open and its what allowed me to use a faster shutter speed. Its one of the things I like about movements with the large format camera.
Your thoughts appreciated.

6 commentsExcellent! I'm so glad you got something along the river there. I came away empty handed from there. ;-(
Hey, I know exactly what you mean about reviewing these large-pixel images at 100% when cleaning/dusting. There are so many great abstracts to enjoy in an image like this, you could probably carve out a half dozen different images from the larger original scan. Very cool stuff. So indeed, this one can really only be appreciated at a larger size, most certainly a large print.
