El Backdrop

It's fascinating how one squigley line can immediately place the viewer at the scene's location. It was a very low visibility day there and the big rockface made for a fine backdrop to the isolated tree. Soon it faded from view as falling snow covered everything including me. 1DsIII, Zeiss 85mm.

The thumbnail doesn't do this justice, this is s beautiful subtle image, instantly recognizable but new at the same time.

I've never been there but I recognize it. This one screams snow storm!

Jeffrey,

You're so right about the "squigley" line - or can we say profile? ;-) and being so recognizable. Indeed. I really like how the conditions allowed you to really make this a simple image; tree, fog, rock (big one!) While not bursting with drama, this really captures so much of what Yosemite is and is often like. Simple, yet a very effective image and story of Yosemite.

Beautifully contemplative image, Jeffrey. I am glad you included the larger version which shows all the subtle detail in the rock face still showing through. The stronger lines of the foreground tree contrast very nicely with the softer background. Nice work!
