Hanging Houses

For some reason, I really like this technique. Here, I wanted to exaggerate the architectural styles, colors and details of this vertical neighborhood. It includes the houses, apartments, stores, bars and even a dog that seems to be guarding the place.

This little barrio is on the Tomebamba River in Cuenca, Ecuador.

Original photo was taken with Canon 1D MkIII, Canon EF 17-40mm @ 29mm, ISO 100, 1/60 sec., f/11.

In Photoshop, I replaced the dull gray sky with a more interesting one, used Find Edges, lots of Dodge and Burn, heavy Saturation.

I like the clouds and your processing here Paul. The fg trees interest me but mostly, I like the mosaic created from the buildings. Might be inclined to go tighter and just capture the building, although I don't know that, that would satisfy the nature content for this gallery. In any event, this is striking image.

Nicely presented. I love the colors and overall processing in the building. I do feel the foreground trees obstruct the view a little too much.

The buildings have a story book look to them and I like it. As I look at the image I am wishing the trees weren't there so I could see the rest of the building. For my taste the sky is a bit over done.

Thanks to all for your comments. I agree with the trees being a bit of a distraction. Guess I need to slap on my 14mm and get on the other side of them. One thing for sure, I will plenty of opportunities to shoot it again. Thanks, again, to everyone!
