Eerie and cool, Lucy. There's a very nice "metallic" quality to this light with the shimmering blues and grays.

Lucy,

I'm with Tony - very eerie! I'll add spooky too! I must say this is quite photographically artsy - if that's a term. You didn't mention any processing, and that's ok, but some clear halo'ing and the coloring almost metallic as Tony put it - although not sure if metallic is the word I'm thinking of. Too bad, the larger version starts to degrade with noise a little. But this sure is one haunting image; and what a fabulous combination of tree, clouds and the moon. Very unique, thanks for sharing this one.

the sky has not been changed. This is just how it looked. All I have done in pp is up the structure a bit in NIK...That's it. We have strange skies like this every once in a while, and I have photographed a number of cool scenes. But, they are not art....not manipulated. so, they are "extra" cool! :wavey:

I just wish, that I could figure out how to keep the nighttime noise down to a minimum. Since, these are taken way after dark, there is bound to always be a bit of noise. Any tips?

Quite eerie Lucy. Love the shadows and light. If it were mine, I might try to smooth out the halo around the moon (smudge tool in PS?). To reduce noise, I use NIK Define 2 but there are other tools.

Thanks...I did use Nik Define to smooth the noise...........but, I was afraid to take it too far and lose details. Should I try? Or is the noise insignificant?
Also, the halo was there...to smudge or not to smudge..

Dont smudge--just let as much of the original brightness stand out--its just the area right around the moon that's odd looking, the blue surrounding it is pretty sweet. I love the silhouette too. :toast:
