Stamen Dance

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted January 1, 2013252 views3 comments
I played around this afternoon with flowers that we had received from our guests at the New Year's party.

These are the stamens of a Lily. They have not unfolded yet to their typical angled shape. The pistil had broken off, and when I looked trough the viewfinder (actually liveview), I thought they looked like small figures dancing.

Canon 7D, Sigma 150 mm macro 2.8, f/8, ISO 100, 5.0 sec, tripod, natural light + gelled flash to get some sparkle in the "eyes". PP in LR4. Minor crop for composition and to remove a pokie.

I've posted this in the Macro & Close-up gallery. Feel free to move to Flora if that is more appropriate.

All comments are much appreciated. Thanks for looking. Roger.

Happy New Year to all.

Well composed and captured, Roger. I like the shallow dof, and the lighting is terrific. No nits from me.
