Red-kneed Dotterel Erythrogonys cinctus

Went out to a local swamp to try and photograph some Wood Sandpipers I'd seen the day before. No luck with the Woodies but there was no shortage of Red-knees parading in front of me. Got this one just before sunset.

Great pose and good to see the surfs up in the Western District lakes.

The Ministry of Silly Walks - indeed. Or perhaps "don't mention the war" Basil Fawlty?

A neat bird - strikingly different form our plovers.

Definitely a silly walk! :jump:

Just a beautiful shot of a lovely bird. Getting down and dirty paid off in aperfect backdrop to a perfectly exposed image.

Good stuff! :toast:

Nice low angle and light Rob. Love the muddy foot. Seems to need some CW rotation.

I laughed as soon as I saw the title, which probably says a lot about my age and where I grew up. Great title, great picture.
