Great Blue Heron

Another from Ridgefield on the 2nd. I had numerous opportunities with these, but I really liked the back lighting on this one. I did do some fairly major adjustments in ACR to dim the bg a bit without underexposing the Heron.

1DIV, 500mm ISL + 1.4 TC, Black Widow on BLUBB beanbag, f8, 1/800, iso 640, Av mode with + 2/3 compensation, cropped to 10.6MP for composition.

First, the feather and face detail are spot on

Great body feathers sweet. The back ground is bright but not so much that it hurts the overall photograph at all. Good thirds composition

Excellent detail on the GBH and the rim back-lighting is well controlled. I do think some of the specular highlights could be toned down a mite.

I really like this! It's different, with that very bright background and the backlighting, but you certainly made it work.

I really like this. That bright golden BG gives the impression of a sunny day. And it's picked up in the semi-translucent tip of the bill and in the feathers at the edge of the neck. Nice feather detail and exposure. Excellent composition.
