Eventide

A ridiculously red sunrise provided the illumination for this seascape scene in Acadia National Park (hence the heavy red/purple tone, the sky was acting like a giant red reflector). This image illustrates a recent blog post of mine called A Night at the Improv and an upcoming article in my monthly Landscape Photography Magazine column. I was able to fire off three shots before the tide came in and erased the composition. Had to clone Budliger out of my background, which is easy to do because he's skinny like an underfed bulimic supermodel. Kurt, try eating a burger or something every once and awhile.

One of the best Acadia images I've seen Ian. Epic in every regard... :toast: :toast: :toast:

Fantastic light, for sure. All the motion captured makes for a dramatic, yet calm scene. IMO, it is a tad dark overall, but on the other hand, I sort of like the mood with it darker (I guess pre-dawn light is not all that intense, either). Glad you were able to fire off the three exposures in time...

Well done as always. Very nice sense of motion. I particularly like the blurring of the water and underwater rocks in the foreground.

Wow Ian! This is incredible. I was actually at this exact location (or at least it looks identical) a few years ago and have a very similar shot. Love the illuminated FG rocks and the effect of the long exposure. Nice work!

A wonderful sunrise, Ian! I like the color and the illuminated fg rocks.
The sky takes this over the top. Appropriate shutter speed for the waves.

LLamalicious!!! One of my faves of your work this past year, and that's saying something with all of your excellent stuff. From the captivating foreground rocks, the wonderful light and color, and the comp is your usual mastery. Bravo! :toast:

Very excellent, I can practically smell the salt water. The blurred water and clouds play well together.

Other than being a bit dark a fantastic image. Love the mystery swirls around the rocks in the foreground. The gold works so well with the pinks and magentas. :toast:
