Autumn's Hymn

I'm probably going to be posting fall images until next fall. I'm still working through my processing as I have time. So many great areas to explore in Colorado, and so many great subjects to work.

This is the horizontal of a vertical I posted awhile back. Stan Rose and Kane Englebert said I need to bring a horizontal to show Dallas Divide in it's full glory in fall, so here is one. I included more sky that Stan said I should have included, and I will put another image zoomed in more to eliminate the sky for those that think it should be cropped perhaps.

And, yes, Stan, I'm sure you can find something to critique. :jump:

C&C always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Morris

Large version included.

Here's the cropped version. I do wish I would have allowed more room for the bright aspen on the right side. Oh, well, maybe next year.

I like the cropped version best Morris. The sky looks more dramatic but more importantly it brings those beautiful aspens closer to the viewer. Love those autumn colors.

Another beautiful vista. I rather like the original version for its sense of vastness but I'm probably gonna be a minority there. A wonderful tapestry of color. Nicely done

Wow, what a beautiful fall scene Morris! I love the light and colors you caught here along with that awesome sky! I like the first one (uncropped) the best. Something about the feel of that one I just love. Beautiful image... :toast:

Absolutely gorgeous scene! I love this place. The mix of colors here is really like no other, I know of. It's something about the vast amount of area with just the bushes with all the earthy tones that mix with the yellows, oranges and such.

I think I'd go with the first one cropped down to the clouds. The second one is fine too without the crops on the sides, or at least not quite as much. I think getting into the Aspens is not worth the other things the crops achieve, IMO!

Love that light over the mountain!
What a majestic view ! :toast:

I think I'd like a "tweener" in crop

Perfect title, Morris,,,,,this really does sing. I much prefer the original version. The diagonal layers color and that island of gold sure are sweet.

A gorgeous autumn scene, Morris. I would have suggested to crop off some of the sky, as you did in the cropped version. For my tastes I might have left a little more space on either side, to portray more of the vastness of the space. Nice work!

Another excellent fall image, Morris. I like the sky cropped. The cropped version also seems to have more color in the sky, which I also prefer.

Both images are spectacular in my opinion, Morris. The first for the broader view of these mountains, sky, and foliage, the second for the more up close and personal, frame-filled view of this autumn glory. Love 'em both.

Morris, this definitely portrays the magical beauty of that night. I think the second, zoomed-in version has more drama in the clouds and for that reason I prefer it. Both compositions work for me, though.

I could see where this could make a nice pan Morris. The clouds are excellent and the near, far distance of the elements keep the eye moving around, a good thing. Looking forward to more. Nice work!

I find the balance of the uncropped version a little awkward so I definitely have a preference for the crop. Love the light and colours.

Morris, this is another wonderful fall image. This must be a gorgeous landscape to photograph. You did a good job here composing and processing this image. i'd prefer the cropped version. I would prefer the first one cropped at the top but without the crops on the left and right. But both shots are excellent

I like the cropped version best, although I think it's a little over-cropped IMO. A great combination of colors and a very light, airy feeling to it. Very well done.

Excellent shot. I love the crop. The first one is a little too 50/50 for my tastes, and I dont think the top sky is adding much. Even though the aspens are touching the frame, I think they are pretty well positioned. Nice shot

Loving the light in the sky/clouds Morris, lovely view over to the distant mountains. Compositionally I think I prefer the second upload.

Beautiful! I love that little patch of yellow! I think I like the first one the best, with only maybe a little bit of sky cropped off....

Great interplay of shapes and colors for me, Morris. Just a less tight crop than the second version would work best in my opinion. Anyway, I enjoy the atmosphere of this grand scene a lot.
