Serene Sierra

Going back through some images from fall in the Eastern Sierra I found a few I like more the second time around. We saw this grove of aspens from a distance and hiked 40 minutes to get up there. The light never got great, I was hoping for some filtered backlight, but once it all went into shadow, the scene was serene nonetheless.

Robb, Seems that the hike was worth it.The colors are crisp and strong. I like how the right foreground trunks draw my eye into the image. The angles of the different colors tree bands work well. Nice composition.

This is a great study in orange. I love the variety of tones available, and you seem to have done an excellent job separating them.

Very pretty scene. Might like to have seen a little wider view- seems a little cramped but without knowing what surrounds this you may have the possible comp. Very enjoyable.

Agree with Brad. Lovely oranges and yellows, and a real sense of depth.

Very nice colors, despite the light I think it works. I think you maximized the composition by including the white aspen trunks on the right bottom and the treeless patch of land on the left top

Robb, I appreciate the layers in your composition, with the inclusion of the surroundings at the top. While my attention is first drawn to the white trunks, you lead me into the distance in an appealing way. I think the lighting conditions work perfectly to show this impressive color palette.
