Pink Robin

This Pink Robin sitting on my car mirror in Liffey Forest, Northern Tasmania allowed me to get to about 3 feet away, lucky, as I only had my 16-85 lens attached.
Having not posted on NPN for a long time, and in Avian for even longer, (!) I couldn't resist posting this.
I know it's not great as it doesn't show the whole bird, and the perch isn't ideal, but I do like this guys somewhat scruffy appearance and bold manner.
D300, Nikkor 16-85 @ 85mm, ISO 320, 1/80th @ f/5.6, handheld.
About 70% of original frame.

If I wasn't looking at it I may not believe it. You have some very colorful birds in Austraila! Feather detail is great.

Tack sharp feather detail. I can almost see your reflection on the bird's eye. Great capture and welcome back Neale ! :toast:

Interesting capture Neale - I never thought I'd see a Pink Robin perching on a car mirror!

Very cool bird, Neale. Seems like you Australians have a never ending variety. Let's hope it stays that way for a long time. It would be neat to get this one on a better perch, but still I enjoy seeing this one for the first time. :toast:
