Passionate poser

This is my favorite shot from my last trip, saw those dry bushes couple day before I captured this shot and I knew could be nice spot for sunset. I returned back when was high tide , did some shots before went to the spot what I had in my mind. Was getting closer maybe on 10-15 feet, and on one of the branches was sitting little snowy egret, check the viewfinder and it was looking just great but the bird looked to little, how nice could be if something bigger sits there instead the little egret, set my exposures and I was ready to screw in dark ND filter and right before I pressed the trigger flew on the same branch great blue heron and egret left, I knew I have to be quick, pressed the trigger for 22 second exposure and my "passionate poser" didn't move, for the moment when everything goes just perfect I must be nothing else just thankful
Canon 1Ds Mark III, 40 mm, 0.67 ev, F/22, 22 sec,manual mode,B+W ND 3,0 1000x E, ballhead and tripod Giottos

what fine luck! But you had the technique and knowledge to capture it - and perfectly!
Love the colours, the comp, and the ideal pose from the heron.

Quite a nice catch here. Love the separation and framing on the bird against the sky.

Wow. I'm shocked he didn't move for such an exposure! Glad you had the nerves I wouldn't have to try 22 sec. It sure paid off!

Great field work! I think the composition is well done to emphasize the sky and cloud colors. Amazing the 22 seconds caught the bird.
