A bit lack of sharpness and detail IMO. The pose was great and nice catch light of the eye. The insect was a bonus. Thanks for sharing Charlie.

Nice pose, composition, and excellent BG colors. The perch works with the BG colors well and while not natural still has enough interest not to detract. It can be hard to work at slower shutter speed and longer focal lengths without blur. Tripods arent always feasible but a monopod next time might offer some stabilization.

Nicely composed, Charlie. You got some nice light, a complementary background and a great headturn. The cricket in its beak is a big plus. I too find it slightly soft.

Hi Charlie. You correctly went with a nice low iso, but I still see quite a bit of noise in the background. This might just be a limitation of the equipment, I don't know Oly gear. Teleconverters with zooms, often going to see a loss of image quality, might be the cause of the perceived softness in the image. The light is a bit harsh as well; tough situation. In general though, you have a nice subject, pose, food item, background.

Gary and others. I was aware of the limitations of this image. Olympus has always been behind others as to noise and higher FL lens, I think. This was not shot with the E-5 which is a big improvement as to noise. I push the limit with teleconverters, I know. If I were younger I would change equipment but...
Thanks all for critique and comments. Much of what has been said I was aware.

I like the food in the mouth Charlie. Like others it seems a touch soft, but still like the shot.

Light looks pretty harsh on the bird, but it highlights the prey in mouth. Gorgeous bg even with the noise. Sharon
