ANother one from my trip to Silver Cliff Cemeteries on New Years Day. First, i spotted the sun pillar as the sun rose; then a halo/arc appeared at 22 degrees. Finally--the sun dog at the right side, very rare optical phenomena at 46 degrees! I had to fit them all in one shot, so i kept backing up until i had the whole southern sky covered--this is a 12,000 pixel wide stitch with 70-300 on my 5Dmkii.

This is such an appealing scene with the snow cover and sparsely spaced trees (compared to what I am used to, anyway) that any one of those Sun phenomena would have been sufficient. Two would be really cool, and all three makes this one of those images that you would expect to see on the cover of a meteorology textbook.
This is just frickin' awesome - sorry for the french slang - just a wonderful image. It was one thing to capture all the atmospheric phenomena, but the setting and landscape just tops this off. Outstanding image, great panoramic.
