Sunset stroll

I had posted this image several years ago in the landscape gallery. . . it was taken years before that with my old P&S 8mg camera along the New Jersey coast while I was on a sunset stroll. Looks like a seagull had also just strolled through this same area.

I like this composition a lot, Carolyn Derstine. First of all you have the flow of it from the background to the foreground and toward the viewer. You have the fluid water and the solid land, yet how the two interact in the rounded, fluid shapes in the sand which could be rock, for all we know. And the color contrast between blue and yellow and that between near and far and the amazing texture due to the angle of the lighting.

But then, and what gives this image power and meaning for me personally, there is in this the evidence of life. Birds, according to my understanding, are pretty close relatives to dinosaurs. In fact, if a modern hunter were to shoot a dinosaur and cook it, I bet it would taste like chicken.

But anyway, not to make light of this even though light is playing such a significant role here, to me, these footprints are symbolic of something very ancient. And what that is is how all life here on Earth eventually walked out of the waters. And if you had framed it, for example, with the prints going from left to right, it wouldn't have the impact of this, where, to my interpretation, it makes me, the viewer, aware of my past.

For me this has iconic content, Carolyn Derstine, and I'm glad I decided to look at the forums here today.

Excellent. Very nice depth; good color; the light gives this three dimensions.

This perspective REALLY emphasizes the tracks above all else, while at the same time presenting them in a colorful background, nicely composed. I like the way the background fades out of focus, so as not to detract from the tracks.

You can't go wrong with that blue-gold color scheme. I see validity in John's dinosaur idea. This looks like life emerging from the primordial ooze. Nice perspective and point of focus. Puzzling though. The outer toes curve like a gull's, but where are the web imprints?

Very nice. The low angle light really lets the tracks stand out and the touch of water at the top says that this is a tidal flat.
