This is a walkway at our local Botanic Garden. It abounds with fascinating patterns.

C&C welcome, and thanks for looking,

Morris

Nice capture of the pattern, Morris. I really like the walkway. Kudos to whoever designed it.

Thats one hell of a design Morris, and would have taken a lot of creative thought to make this one. I dont think a average human walking by would actually notice this.

To have noticed this and have framed it ..is a hats off... nicely done image.

Wow, it's amazing that someone actually set these stones, one at a time. Nice capture too - it shows the stones in a good light. Interesting how whoever set the stones made circles every now & then.

All of the stones used here are water washed and rounded; sharp points and edged worn away by time so that now they, roughly equal to one another, they can be used to represent patterns that transcend themselves as individual rocks. That comes from the sculptor and designer.

What I like in your framing of this is the recognition of the yellow straght lines of the "twigs" that have fallen in between the rocks providing both complementary color and contrast in form; something I know you saw and featured by your choice of framing.

There is a sculptor you can probably find on-line that this work reminds me of called Spiral Jetty, Robert Smithson from the '70s.

The other thing I would say about this is that while in photography we tend to think in terms of "analog" and "digital" sometimes, I think that when we look into it, we may find that all images are assembled by the mind from bits of discrete information; rods and cones; sensor pixels, or in this case stones.

Beautiful abstract of something that people rarely notice in the gardens!
