Snowy Dawn

Before sunrise at Lipan Point, a cloud of snow passed to the east around us and produced a nice soft light when the sun rose. This may be my favorite image from this weekend's trip to the Grand Canyon with Peter Coskun. I liked the low contrast and colors the conditions presented.
Suggestions are always welcome. A larger image is provided.

The soft lighting is very appealing and the composition draws the eye along the receding formations. Good job! Chet

Gotta love Monday's on NPN - it seems everyone saves their best work for Monday and it is a great way to come home after a busy day at work.

I like the pastel colors here, Doug, as well as the perceived depth created by the layers from foreground to background which is enhanced by the cloud of snow. Absolutely beautiful work, Doug. :toast:

Definitely the most productive morning (I think). I wish I had switched my lens to get a more intimate shot of these cliffs. You did them justice though. I don't have anything to suggest here.

Love the compressed telephoto view! Unique image and gorgeous light. You could probably afford to lose an inch from the top and still keep the nicest light.

This really captures a nice mood at the canyon. The light and the layering work very nicely here.

Doug,

Gorgeous! Excellent use of the longer focal length to compress and isolate this part of the canyon. I especially like the secondary formation - my first thought was that it has the profile of Half Dome!

Wonderful color. The only suggestion I have would be a slight crop off the top; of course I'm always partial to a shorter format. ;-)
