Winter Light

Winter is never severe here but we still get nice low angled light later in the day. I liked how it lit up this small rose in our garden. I was ambivalent about removing the sepal below the bloom so decided to be lazy and leave it. All comments welcome. >=))>

Nice angled light. There's a lot of detail and color contrast in those petals. I see nothing wrong with the sepal. It's a fine image as is.

Some winter, Bill ! Wish ours could produce flowers like this. Lovely image with beautiful lighting - maybe might be a touch cleaner without the sepal but it's not a big deal.

Beautiful intimate rose, Bill. The light is excellent, and the bg is nice and clean. The sepal is not an issue for me. I did not notice it until reading your comment.

Beautiful color and image Bill. I think the sepal emphasizes the diagonal and adds energy to the comp and image. So, it makes for a lighter mood and works well with the light. Perfect dof decision for my tastes.

I have no problems with the presence of the sepal, Bill. It's dark enough not to catch a lot of attention and feels completely natural even after you drew my attention to it. The rose and it's lighting are beautiful with the center peeking gently from amongst the petals. Don't know if you ever play with "enhancements" like the Orton effect, but this strikes me as a good candidate for such an experiment.

The sepal doesn't bother me at all! The lighting is very nice here & I like the way the center of the flower is just barely peeking out!

Very nice image Bill. I did not notice the sepal either until mentioned. I like the comp and direction of light, detail and shadows on the petals.

Well done.

Beautiful in this mute light. The sepal is just fine as it is.
