Dry Waterfall

Folks,

Going to a grand and massive waterfall when its running dry can bring out some interesting things. This large waterfall is running dry now and has exposed the carbonatite rocks and the smoothed edges. May be several hundred years of water flowing over it. The light was just about beginning to peep in and the grey in the rocks looked very beautiful.

Wonderful showcase of these rock layers. The contrasts are perfect. Nice eye and nice work in simplifying this one.

Excellent image Balan. I really like how you used light and shadow here. My only suggestion would be to crop/clone the bright area in the LLC.

Beautiful light on the rocks! I am not sure what Scott was referring to in the LLC, but I do see a bright area in the LUC that could perhaps be burned a little. Nice work!

Very well seen and executed, Balan. I agree with burning the lighter top left corner. The subtle illumination throughout works beautifully!

Gorgeous! What wonderful colors contrasts and textures. I also like how the dark elements frame the brighter ones. Well done!

Love how the light and shadow really brings out the forms of the rock. Wonderful lines as well. Interesting that even when the waterfall is dry, this the rock seems to emulate a waterfall. Nice work.

I love the comp! Not sure about the color--I think maybe there should either be way less (B&W) or more saturation, cuase the subdued colors here don't mesh as well with the sharp contrasts. Just my take... :wavey:

I like this concept a lot, but have a couple of small nits. I think the midtones could be a little bit brighter perhaps, and it looks a little soft (this could just be a eyes!). Love the muted colors and the shapes as well as the mottled light.
