Swallow shadows 568

Trying to get decent flight shots of swallows when I noticed how they slowed down before landing on the door frame of this old building. Thought the shadows made an interesting image.

I really like that the shadows offer alternate views of the actual birds. It is too bad that the heavy horizontal shadow of the door frame merges into some of the birds or their shadows and detracts from a clean rendition of your concept. It is a concept worthy of more shots when the opportunity presents itself. I would also convert to black and white and eliminate the smudges of rust.

Neat idea John and well captured. It is an unusual and interesting image. I agree with Craig about the heavy shadow of the door frame being a distraction but if that's where they're landing, it would be almost impossible to avoid.

You really caught them coming in to land at all different angles and poses and the echoing shadows help accentuate the unusual poses. Love the unusual shadow all the way on the left. The door shadow doesn't really bother me but the straightness (or lack of) of the doorframe does. Would like to see that straight but then maybe the vertical lines would be off? Probably could be fixed in processing though.

This is a very nice dance of flight. Your focus on the shadows is excellent. The sharpness and prettiness of the shadows is better than the birds themselves. Unusual and interesting entry.

Great eye to notice and capture this! Visually appealing, and fun, and it also makes you keenly aware of the angle of the Sun. Almost looks like a very simple silhouette display, but not quite. I wonder if it might be a bit more pleasing if we could see more details in the actual birds? Just an idea possibly worth exploring. Very cool as-is.

Hi John :wavey: the composition is very imaginative, and well conceived. A B&W conversion might be interesting
