Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III
Focal Length 840mm
Shutter Speed 1/1600 sec
Aperture f/6.3
ISO/Film 320, lens on monopod with RRS head, 40% from original frame
I spotted one flicker on the pile of logs how he was jumping up and down, I kneeled down to get the ready for the shot and suddenly another flicker jumped up and he was doing the same thing, it was kind of entertaining to experience that behavior , it took a while to get them both to the frame with decent sharpness.....
C&C always welcome

Good job of waiting for just the right shot. Love it. :toast:

What a nice capture! I like both birds, front and backs showing, and the interaction is wonderful. Sharon

Nice composition and interaction between the flickers. I really like the way the colors of both birds look in this. There's something funny about the BG, though, with some blur spilling over onto the flickers on the beaks and heads.

great details and interaction, Verdon. love the front and back poses too. I'd consider cloning out the second branch on the right hand side--it looks a little odd to me with how it cuts off.

I love images with interaction like this one. Great job in capturing the "moment" with good detail.

Great interaction, Verdon and well exposed. It looks to my eye as if it might be a bit oversharpened. Nice catch.

Neat to get two birds facing opposite directions. Give a nice view of both front and back. F8 or so might've gotten the bird on the right a little sharper. :toast:

Nice capture of this interaction, Verdon. And the angle helps the shot a lot – it makes the viewer feel like he is part of the "conversation." I don't know if it is a sharpening artifact or what, but the edges of the bill and the background look a little odd. If you applied sharpening to the whole image, consider selective sharpening instead.

I think this is a beautifully framed image with huge interest. I do see the areas of concern already mentioned but in whole, think this is a very nice image.

Hard to get a shot of these two in the same frame, so hat's off to ya Verdon.
Very nice as posted, love that 'dualing' beaks thing
Well done! :toast:
