Nice subject and setting, with pleasing natural colors. It would be better if the head was in focus.

a nice pose and setting, BIll. I like the comp too. the white balance seems a little cool, but I don't know the species well and could be wrong.

I hope that you'll also take time to comment on other people's posts (NPN recommends a minimum of 5 comments per 1 image you post)--NPN only works as a 2 way street, and you'll learn as much from commenting as you will from receiving comments.

Nice yard bird, Bill. I like the over the shoulder look and the bg is nice. It looks to me as if the focus was on the side of the bird rather than the head. You might try some selective sharpening of the head region.

Lovely delicate image, of a beautiful bird. I do like the forest-like surroundings, instead of the usual 'clean' image - well chosen ! Cheers, Hans

Beautiful composition and capture. Looks like your focus point was the wing and not the eye; at f7.1, the head is a little soft as a result. Either spot-focus the eye or bump the f-stop when shooting at the high end of that soon.

I suspect you'd get more comments if you offered more of your own.

Thanks Jim

I am new to NPN and have been a little slow and apprehensive on critiquing other photographers images but that will change as I become more comfortable. I am very impressed with the site and the professionalism of the members.

Thanks Bill

Bill, a pleasing image to the eye. Colors look good and I like the pose. Agree about the slight softness of the head.
